“I’m everything they speak about in whispers.  I’m the evil that travels through the mist at night.  I am the bringer of death the whole world fears…”

Richard can’t remember who he is. And can’t die. And that’s getting old, too.

But he’s only an herbalist. Okay, and maybe a vampire.

Sumerian mythology takes a bite out of vampire lore as Maggie bursts across his remote-in-the-hills British threshold one night during the 1700s. For a moment in time, Maggie becomes the mirror of self-examination Richard doesn’t want any part of while guilt over an only half-understood blood-stealing nature is a scabby mess he picks at. When a vicious pirate captain, Billy the Black Death, with a secret almost as old as his own, teaches Richard he’s not the only one with an inhumanity problem, then it’s about being in the revenge business.

But really? He just wants to be left alone. Why can’t everyone take a bloody hint? To his undying exasperation, all the way into a remote forest in present day Canada, everyone is apparently looking for him – the living and the undead. And for reasons he can’t explain, he can never turn his back on them. After one of his strays, Alan, investigates Richard’s forgotten past, Richard gets more than he bargained for. Fate seems determined to serve him up an existence in unexplainable harmony with people he doesn’t know. Or he could be going crazy.

Bent on revenge, coming into awareness and dealing with the “enemy” technology, his once-peaceful existence is turned upside-down while old Sumerian gods, young vampires, ancient magic, and the outcome of a blood feud could dictate the fate of the world.

Amazon review - Blood Runner books

“A pantheon of gods, pirates, and vampires and at their midst, Richard, an enigma. This was a truly fascinating story full of great characters, vivid descriptions and very unexpected twists. The interweaving of Sumerian myths into the storyline was particularly intriguing… I cannot recommend this book highly enough – a totally unexpected delight.”  See:  Amazon Review

“I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys vampire books (although this is a spin on vampires that I have never read before). I would also recommend Blood Runner to anyone that enjoys mythological stories.”
